Moor End Lane update: 25 October 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • Our contractor has continued their preparatory works. These have included:
    • Further deliveries of materials and machinery
    • Preparation of the working area
    • A slight increase in the size of the fenced area.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs and shared these results with your appointed engineer.

Next week

  • Treatment of the mine shaft will start on Monday. Planned activities include removal of the shaft cap and installation of the sheet piling. Some of these activities will involve the use of a 14 tonne wheeled excavator. As advised previously, we will try to limit disruption as much as possible, but some will be inevitable. We would recommend that residents avoid the area at the back of the properties whilst these works are undertaken.
  • Your appointed engineer will be onsite on Monday.
  • Our Project Manager will be onsite at various points throughout the week.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
  • We will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 1 November.
