Information for residents
As part of the final phase to remediate land at Stanley Street, Somercotes in Derbyshire, we granted a permit to Miller Homes (East Midlands) Ltd on 11 July to allow them to install 247 foundation piles within the Coal Authority’s features. The permit is valid for 12 months up to 11 July 2025.
In granting the permit, we are satisfied that there will be no risks to public safety as a result of this.
We have imposed a requirement for Miller Homes (East Midlands) Ltd to monitor carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, oxygen and hydrogen sulphide at pile holes and rig. Work will stop if elevated levels of mine gasses are encountered
