We have identified a preferred site following a lengthy assessment process that has taken several years where a large number of sites were considered.​ 

Our preferred site is site 10.

The site has been chosen because of it’s:

  • distance from the mine water adit, 
  • size
  • topography
  • engineering factors
  • distance from residential or business properties
  • ecological or archaeological sensitivity

Although we have a preferred site, we are continuing to carry out investigations to confirm this location is suitable. We will not be able to build a mine water scheme until we have obtained planning permission from Northumberland County Council along with other environmental permits.
