Moor End Lane update: 9 August 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • There was less activity on site this week, as the enabling works have now been completed and we await completion and review of the temporary works plan.
  • The GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) survey on the access road and the drainage survey were completed on Friday.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs.
  • We attended a drop-in meeting with residents on 7 August.

Next week

  • This week will continue to be quieter. There will be no contractors on site until after the revised temporary works plan has been signed off.
  • The revised temporary works plan is expected to be supplied to the independent engineer by Tuesday 13 August.
  • The independent engineer will review the revised temporary works plan, once it has been supplied.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
  • A colleague from the Coal Authority will be available for a drop-in session on Tuesday 13 August from 6 – 6.30pm. Please come along if you have any questions or concerns.

Works to the mine shaft

Due to the minor change required to the design, the works to the shaft will be slightly delayed. Once the updated design has been signed off, we expect the works to start within 2 weeks.

In the meantime, we will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 16 August.
