Moor End Lane update: 6 September 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • There has been no activity on site this week.
  • Our contractors are preparing information to answer the appointed engineer’s further questions about the temporary works plan. We will share this information with the engineer once it is ready.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs.
  • As agreed with residents, there was no onsite meeting this week.

Next week

  • It will continue to be quieter as there will be no contractors on site until after the revised temporary works plan has been signed off.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
  • As there will be no activity on site this week, we are not planning a drop-in session. However, if residents would like this to happen, please let us know and we will happily arrange this.

Works to the mine shaft

Whilst we await the sign off of the temporary works plan, the works to the shaft will be delayed. Once the updated design has been signed off, we expect the works to start within 2 weeks.

In the meantime, we will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 13 September.
