Moor End Lane update: 20 September 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • We have had verbal confirmation from the appointed engineer that that our contractor can begin preparation works during the week of 30 September. We will provide more information about this in next week’s update.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs.
  • As agreed with residents, there was no onsite meeting this week.

Next week

  • It will continue to be quieter as there will be no contractors on site.
  • We expect the appointed engineer will fully sign off the temporary works plan.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
  • As there will be no activity on site this week, we are not planning a drop-in session. However, if residents would like this to happen, please let us know and we will happily arrange this.

Works to the mine shaft

As mentioned above, our contractor will mobilise on 30 September and begin preparation works. We’ll confirm the start date of the works to the mine shaft once the updated temporary works plan has been fully signed off, in line with the requirement for these to be received not less than 7 days prior to the start of the works.

In the meantime, we will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 27 September.
