Moor End Lane update: 4 October 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • Heavy rain this week caused delays which meant we weren’t able to start preparatory works as planned.
  • We met with residents on 3 October to provide an update and answer any questions. There were some queries we couldn’t answer at the time, including the temporary works plan and management of services during the works. We will speak to the contractor and provide answers to those next week.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs.

Next week

  • The contractor will start moving onto site in preparation for starting the works. This will include delivering materials and equipment to the site compound.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.

Works to the mine shaft

  • We’ll confirm the start date of the works to the mine shaft once the updated temporary works plan has been fully signed off, in line with the requirement for these to be received not less than 7 days prior to the start of the works. Approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements will also be in place before works commence.

In the meantime, we will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 11 October.
