Moor End Lane update: 1 November 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • We started work on treating the mine shaft on Monday. We have made steady and safe progress carryout the excavating and have started to install the shoring.
  • Your appointed engineer attended the site on Monday and confirmed they were happy with our temporary work design.
  • We repaired an old pot hole next to the car park.
  • Our Health and Safety advisor was onsite with our Principal Health and Safety advisor on 31 October to carry out a Health and Safety audit to ensure we are continuing to proactively manage health and safety on site.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs.
  • As agreed with residents, there was no onsite meeting this week.

Next week

  • We will continue with the installation of the temporary works. As previously advised, some of these activities will involve the use of a 14 tonne wheeled excavator. We will try to limit disruption as much as possible, but some will be inevitable. We would recommend that residents avoid the area at the back of the properties whilst these works are undertaken.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.

In the meantime, we are continuing to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 8 November.
