Moor End Lane update: 8 November 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • Work is progressing in line with the attached schedule. We’ve continued the temporary works, as per the agreed plan. Most of the piling sheets are now in place around the perimeter of the site, alongside the pressurised support beams. We are now using a 13 tonne, 360 excavator which will allow us to access the whole of the excavation area.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs and shared these results with your appointed engineer.

Next week

  • We will continue excavating the site. As per the schedule, towards the end of the week, we plan to create the concrete blinding layer. This will provide a safe working platform for the shaft cap steel work to be constructed. As advised previously, we will try to limit disruption as much as possible, but some will be inevitable. We would recommend that residents avoid the area at the back of the properties whilst these works are undertaken.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
  • We will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 15 November.
