Moor End Lane update: 22 November 2024
Information for residents
Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding
Progress this week
- We have continued to make progress this week. On Monday we completed the pouring of the blinding layer. This is to provide a working platform to construct the main cap.
- We have commenced building the steel cage structure which will reinforce the concrete cap.
- A 10 inch pipe at a depth of 2.7 metres, directly connected to the shaft was uncovered. This was most likely used for de watering the shaft when it was live. This has been remediated and capped. The pipe was not associated with any current drainage systems.
- We have shared the updated work schedule on the website.
- We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs which showed no movement. We have shared these results with your appointed engineer.
- As agreed with residents, there was no onsite meeting this week.
Next week
- You will notice more activity on site on Monday as we will be as we will be continuing to construct the steelwork. Once completed this will be checked by our engineers to ensure compliance with the engineering design.
- There will be concrete mixers on site later in the week. We will try to limit disruption as much as possible, but some will be inevitable. We would recommend that residents avoid the area at the back of the properties whilst these works are undertaken.
- Once we have poured the concrete there will be a 3 day stand down to allow the concrete to cure before any further progress can be made. This is in line with the works schedule..
- The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
In the meantime, we are continuing to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.
Next update
We will provide a further update on Friday 29 November 2024
