Moor End Lane update: 29 November 2024

Information for residents

Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Progress this week

  • This week, we made progress with the reinforcement cage of the steel reinforced concrete cap.
  • As part of our standard due diligence procedures ahead of the concrete pour, we carried out an inspection of the steel on Wednesday. This identified an issue within the steel work, which will need to be rectified. It has meant we were unable to complete the planned concrete pour this week. This will now be undertaken next week. We are working with our contractor to minimise the impact on the schedule and will issue an updated schedule to residents next week.
  • Following a resident request, we completed soil sampling from the site on Thursday. The results of the sampling are expected to take 2 weeks. We will share these with your appointed engineer once we have received them.
  • We completed the weekly survey of the monitoring studs and shared these results with your appointed engineer.
  • As agreed with residents, there was no onsite meeting this week.

Next week

  • We will continue the works on the steel reinforcement.
  • The concrete pour will happen before the end of the week.
  • We will issue an updated schedule.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
  • We will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Next update:

We will provide a further update on Friday 6 December.
