Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience.

Progress this week

  • The concrete cap was given time to cure. We carried out strength testing which confirmed we were able to continue with our reinstatement works.
  • We started reinstating the ground around the cap by backfilling and compacting stone.
  • Due to illness, the weekly stud monitoring did not take place. The installed tilt sensors will alert us if there is any movement.   
  • As agreed with residents, there was no onsite meeting this week.

Next week

  • We will continue the ground reinstatement.
  • On Monday and Tuesday, we will build the manhole chamber and reinstate the disjointed pipework for the drains for numbers 6 and 7. We will contact these residents directly about this.
  • On Thursday and Friday, we will be carrying out assurance works. These works will cause some noise but we will try to keep this to a minimum.
  • The stud monitoring will take place as usual on Wednesday. The surveyor will continue to access the studs via the rear of the properties.
  • We will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Our onsite team will finish work on 20 December and will restart on 2 January 2025. If you have any concerns throughout the Christmas period, please do call our 24/7 hazard line on 0800 2884242. Tuesday 24th December: 8:45am – 1pm

Wednesday 25th December: Office closed

Thursday 26th December: Office closed

Friday 27th December 8.45am – 5pm

Monday 30th December: 8.45am – 5pm

Tuesday 31st December: 8.45am – 1pm

Wednesday 1st January: Office closed

Thursday 2nd January: back to normal hours 8:45am – 5pm
