Ground collapse at Moorend Houses, Silkstone Common

Thank you for your continued patience.

Progress this week

  • We have completed reinstating the ground around the cap by backfilling and compacting stone. The stone has now been filled to ground level ready for surface finishing.
  • After residents’ questions, we confirmed that the material to be used in reinstating the track surface will not be limestone (as used for the car park). The material will most likely be tarmac chips or a similar inert product.
  • Drillers have been onsite Thursday and Friday. This was to confirm the strength of the rock below the cap.
  • The weekly stud monitoring took place on Wednesday.
  • As agreed with residents, there was no onsite meeting this week.

Next week

  • There will be some work onsite on Monday 23 December. This will include moving fence positions and a general tidying up before the Christmas break. Work will commence again on 2 January.
  • The stud monitoring will not take place next week. The installed tilt sensors will alert us if there is any movement. The surveyor will next visit during week commencing 30 December.
  • We will continue to speak to residents individually about their circumstances and concerns, as well as via the represented contact.

Arrangements for Christmas

Our onsite team will finish work on 23 December and will restart on 2 January 2025. If you have any concerns throughout the Christmas period, please do call our 24/7 hazard line on 0800 2884242.

Tuesday 24th December: 8:45am – 1pm

Wednesday 25th December: Office closed

Thursday 26th December: Office closed

Friday 27th December 8.45am – 5pm

Monday 30th December: 8.45am – 5pm

Tuesday 31st December: 8.45am – 1pm

Wednesday 1st January: Office closed

Thursday 2nd January: back to normal hours 8:45am – 5pm
