Dewar Avenue

On 23 April 2025, Fife Council informed us about subsidence damage affecting a few properties on Dewar Avenue, Kincardine, and the local Community Centre. We promptly visited the site and fenced off the affected areas to ensure public safety while we conduct further investigations.
Reassurance for Residents
To keep you reassured, we are performing regular structural surveys and have installed monitoring systems to detect any further movement.
Community Centre Update
We have also surveyed the Community Centre. Although the damage is minor and mainly affects the emergency exit door, the centre will remain closed until further investigation is completed.
Next Steps
We have begun investigating the cause of the damage to determine if it is related to historical coal mining. This involves specialist drilling works that may take 2 to 3 weeks to complete. During this time, we will continue to work closely with Fife Council to support residents and ensure the area is safe.
We understand that this will be causing concern and disruption for the local community, and you may have questions about what is happening. We’ve therefore arranged a public meeting as follows:
Date: Friday 2 May
Time: 6.30pm
Location: Kincardine Senior Citizens Centre, Station Road, Kincardine, FK10 4LU
During the meeting, we’ll update you on the progress of our investigations, let you know what will happen next and give you an opportunity to ask questions.
