Camberwell Drive update: 13 September 2024
Information for residents
Mine entry on grass verge at Camberwell Drive
This briefing provides information following the public meeting on 5 September 2024
Public meeting presentation
We would like to extend our thanks for the opportunity to meet with residents following the recent public meeting. We really appreciate the chance to engage with the community, listen to concerns, and discuss matters in more detail.
During the meeting we shared the plan and timeline for the next stage of the project works, which is an update to the proposed plans shared at the public meeting in January. A copy of this presentation can be found under ‘downloads’.
We have listened to residents’ concerns about parking and access to their properties during the main section of the works when the road will be closed. We have responded to this by proposing a temporary car park on an area of land between 109 and 111 Camberwell Drive. This area is owned by Tameside Council and we are arranging a formal lease with them for these works. We are proposing to start work on the car park in the next few weeks and will update you more on these dates by 25 September.
We also shared an update on the utility services for electricity, gas and BT which will need be diverted before our drilling and grouting works start in November. We are currently working with utility providers and will keep you informed of the proposed dates once these have been confirmed.
Next steps
We will shortly contact individual residents who live closest to the mine shaft, to arrange to carry out internal and external surveys before our works start in November.
