This fact sheet provides information about the recent ground collapse at the grassed verge on Camberwell Drive where the Coal Authority are currently carrying out investigation work.

We understand that the ground collapse at the grassed verge on Camberwell Drive will be causing
concern and disruption for a number of you and we thank you for your patience and
understanding during the current situation. The Coal Authority were called on to site on Monday 13
December 2021 due to a ground collapse in Camberwell Drive. Fencing has been established
around the affected area to ensure that members of the public are safe.

Ground Investigations

It is important that we understand what has caused the collapse. The Coal Authority are aware of a
recorded mine shaft in this area and our initial investigation has confirmed the presence of this
mine shaft. Further ground investigations will need to be carried out on site to confirm the actual
location and the dimensions of the mine shaft, we will inform you when these investigations will
take place.

How will the works affect me?

As the affected area is on the grassed verge as you enter Camberwell Drive, there should be
minimal disruption to residents, while we carry out our works. We will inform all residents with key
dates of our work as the project moves forward.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are grateful for your support and patience.
