Camberwell Drive update: October 2023

Information for residents

Mine entry on grass verge at Camberwell Drive

This update provides further information about the ground collapse in the grassed verge on Camberwell Drive.

Remediation options

During the residents’ meeting in July, we committed to exploring the potential remediation options further and to provide more information on viability, level of disruption and costs. We are progressing this as quickly as possible and working with an external consultant (Wardell Armstrong) to independently review the options presented at the meeting and to consider whether any other options would be possible.

As part of this work the consultant is undertaking an independent review of treatment option 1 (grouting the shaft). This includes an impact assessment to understand the implications for local properties and the wider community, such as road closures and accessibility. We are also exploring this option with our specialist drilling contractors to gather as much information as possible to inform future discussions and decisions.

We expect to receive the findings of this review by the end of November. We will quickly consider the review findings and arrange a further public meeting in December. We are grateful for your continued patience as the review takes place.

Ongoing monitoring

We are continuing to monitor the site regularly and can confirm that there has been no further movement or instability.

Maintenance of the site

We are keeping the site tidy and have undertaken regular grass cutting within the temporary-fenced area.

Engagement

We will provide a further update by the end of October.
