Camberwell Drive update: October 2023 (second update)

Information for residents

Mine entry on grass verge at Camberwell Drive

This update provides further information about the ground collapse in the grassed verge on Camberwell Drive.

Remediation options

We are continuing to work with specialist engineers and drilling contractors to fully review treatment option 1 (grouting the shaft) as advised in our last Residents’ Briefing.  This work remains on track and we expect to receive their findings by the end of November.

We are also working with our external consultants, Wardell Armstrong, to review the options already presented at the residents meeting and to explore whether there could be any alternative remediation options.

Residents meeting

We have worked with Angela Rayner’s office to agree the date for our next residents meeting, which will take place on Thursday 18 January at 6pm. At the meeting we will share our findings on the remediation options.

We will provide details of the venue and how to confirm your attendance in our next update on 1 December.

Ongoing monitoring

We are continuing to monitor the site regularly and can confirm that there has been no further movement or instability.

Maintenance of the site

We remain committed to keeping the site tidy. If you have any concerns about this at any time, please contact our Customer Services Team by phone 0345 762 6848 or email customerservice@coal.gov.uk
